How to properly choose a ThermoKing diesel generator
When choosing an overhang/suspended ThermoKing diesel generator for a refrigerated container, attention should be paid not only to external factors but also to the condition of the equipment and mechanical parts.
First of all, check the integrity of the diesel generator body, as any deformations may indicate possible damage to the internal parts of the generator. Next, inspect the genset for signs of technical fluid leaks – such as oil, antifreeze, or diesel fuel.
An important element is the integrity of the mounting system directly to the refrigerated container, as this affects the reliability of the connection and, accordingly, safety during transportation. If long-distance transportation is planned, choose an overhang generator with the largest possible fuel tank. In different ThermoKing diesel generator models, the fuel tank can hold from 350 L to 492 L.
Last but not least, pay attention to the year of manufacture and the number of operating hours. For used ThermoKing diesel generators, a usage of no more than 3000 operating hours per year is considered normal. In this case, with proper maintenance, the diesel generator has good service life, ensuring high-quality and uninterrupted operation for many years.
