Specifics of Refrigerated Container Certification at GCS

Global Container Service carries out inspection and assessment of refrigerated containers under the PES (Periodic Examination Scheme) in strict compliance with CSC requirements. Within the PES framework, a container must be inspected before the 5-year anniversary from the date of manufacture, and thereafter undergo regular inspections at intervals not exceeding 30 months.

Prior to certification, GCS performs defect inspection of reefer containers: structural integrity, technical condition of the refrigeration equipment, operability of the electrical components and control systems are evaluated, and compliance with safety requirements is confirmed. Any non-conformities can be eliminated on-site — the GCS technical base allows all types of container repair works to be performed in the shortest possible time.

After устранения non-conformities, an inspector from a certification body is invited, and tests are carried out under their supervision. Based on the results, an official certificate of compliance with standards is issued.

Step 1 Application submission

Step 2 Defect inspection and work assessment

An initial technical inspection of the container is carried out and a defect sheet is drawn up — a list of malfunctions to be corrected to bring the container into compliance with standards.

Step 3 Carrying out work

All repair and restoration work is carried out at the GCS terminal, without the need for additional container logistics.

Step 4 Certification

Under the supervision of a certification society inspector, the container undergoes testing in accordance with the requirements of PES and CSC.

Step 5 Issuance of a certificate

After successfully passing the inspection, you receive an electronic certificate of the container's compliance with CSC standards. The CSC plate of the container is marked with the date of the next inspection (NED).

Certification of refrigerated containers, which meets all necessary standards, is carried out within one working day. The exact time frame is determined after a preliminary assessment and is communicated during the consultation.

For certification, official documents are required confirming ownership or the right to operate a refrigerated container, as well as previously issued test reports and certificates (if available).

Who is responsible for conducting safety inspections?

In accordance with CSC requirements, the responsibility for maintaining a container in a safe condition and certifying it in compliance with safety standards lies with the owner. Responsibility for organizing and conducting mandatory inspections may also be assigned to the party exercising actual control over the container, within the framework of existing contractual or leasing agreements.
