Specifics of genset modernization at GCS
At the initial stage, GCS specialists perform diagnostics of the genset to assess its technical condition and determine modernization possibilities. Depending on the customer’s requirements, modernization may include:
- improving fuel efficiency — optimization of engine and fuel system operation to reduce fuel consumption;
- modernization of the control system — installation of modern controllers with remote GSM or GPS monitoring and genset control capabilities;
- upgrading the generator section — improving the performance characteristics of the alternating current generator (alternator) to increase operational stability;
- environmental modernization — installation of exhaust gas cleaning systems and filter upgrades;
- installation of a protective enclosure (housing) — conversion of an open genset into an enclosed diesel generator unit for mechanical protection and noise reduction;
- optimization of generator weight — weight reduction by installing a lighter housing on the genset to simplify mounting at the front of the trailer, increase the container’s payload capacity, and transport a larger volume of cargo.
If necessary, defects identified during the inspection stage are eliminated before modernization work is carried out as part of the genset repair service.
