Painting containers
Painting a shipping container is the restoration of the protective and decorative functions of the equipment's metal surfaces by applying two-component epoxy or polyurethane coatings.
Container painting is carried out to restore the coating after damage, repair, or replacement of individual sections. Painting of the metal body is also performed as part of anti-corrosion protection, as well as to improve appearance, maintain corporate identity, and apply logos or advertising elements.

Container Painting Specifications at GCS
Painting of cargo containers by Global Container Service specialists is carried out using a multilayer technology with high-quality epoxy primers and polyurethane protective and decorative coatings. If a shipping container is operated in an aggressive environment, anti-corrosion painting is performed using a special coating resistant to chemicals and high temperatures. For reefer containers, professional paints for aluminum surfaces that are safe for food products are used.
In most cases, the container is painted only externally. Internal painting is applied after transporting cargo that causes contamination or mechanical damage to the coating, including scrap metal, waste, timber, recyclables, and chemicals.
Container painting is carried out in several stages:
- Cleaning the container. Contaminants and dust are thoroughly removed from both open and hard-to-reach areas.
- Surface preparation. Local rust is removed mechanically using sandpaper or metal brushes. Large corroded areas are treated with sandblasting equipment. Chips are ground using an angle grinder.
- Priming. The prepared surface is treated with an epoxy primer.
- Painting the steel body. A finishing paint coating of any RAL color is applied in compliance with technological standards.
- Drying. The coating dries and polymerizes naturally in accordance with the технологический режим.
At the customer's request, logos, corporate identity elements, and advertising slogans can be applied to containers.
